Adrian Blocker, Board Member
Adrian Blocker retired from Weyerhaeuser serving most recently as Senior Vice President, Timberlands, and Senior Vice President of Wood Products. He joined Weyerhaeuser in 2013 with a 30 year career in operational and corporate experience in forestland management, wood products manufacturing, consumer packaging and fiber procurement. Before joining Weyerhaeuser, he served as CEO of the Wood Products Council, an industry marketing association.
Adrian’s career began with Champion International where he advanced his career from Regional Operations Analyst to Vice President of Strategic Planning for the Forestland and Wood Products business. During his 19 years with Champion, he worked in the areas of forestland management, fiber procurement and wood products manufacturing as well as leading the acquisitions and divestitures of their 3.5 million acre forestland portfolio across all U.S. forest regions.
At International Paper (IP), Adrian held positions in business planning and consumer packaging before becoming the General Manager of Wood Products. In 2005, Adrian earned the Chairman’s Award for his work attaining production and earnings records in the wood products business. Before that time, he led the marketing and divestiture of IP’s vast, 12 million acres of forestland, representing the breakup and sale of one of the largest private U.S. industrial forestland ownerships. In addition, he led the divestiture of IP’s wood products business in 2007.
With West Fraser’s acquisition of IP’s lumber business, Adrian was retained by West Fraser to establish their business in the U.S., including leading the newly formed acquisition through the restructuring of corporate systems, workforce reductions and mill rationalizations during the market downturn. At the completion of this role, Adrian led the Southern Forest Products Association before taking on the role of CEO of the Wood Products Council, where he transformed the organization from a regional pilot program to a national marketing initiative serving the North American wood products industry.
Adrian has served on a number of industry boards including the Bi-national (U.S. / Canadian) Softwood Lumber Council, the Softwood Lumber Board and the U.S. Endowment for Forestry and Communities. He has also been recognized as Alumni of the Year at the College of Forestry, Mississippi State University and served as past chairman of Lausanne Collegiate School in Memphis, Tenn.
Adrian holds an MBA and Bachelor of Science degrees in both Business and Forestry from Mississippi State University. Adrian joined the Conner Board of Directors in February 2022.
